J’Something (born 29 August 1988) is a world music musician, songwriter, cook, and guitarist. He is best known as the lead singer for the South African house band Mi Casa.
The musician is a vocalist and guitarist for the music group. The group has dropped many hit songs since they formed in 2011. As a group, they dropped many albums since their debut.

Early Life
J’Something was born on 29 August 1988 in Portugal. His parents named him Joao da Fonseca at birth. He moved to South Africa with his mother, Maria, when he was seven.
After moving to South Africa, people found pronouncing his real name, Joao da Fonseca, difficult. So, he adopted the stage name J’Something. He attended Stellenbosch University.
Career
Music
Joao is the lead singer for the music band Mi Casa. He and other band members formed the group (in 2011) and performed at a night lounge.
He and the band have made notable input in the South African music scene. He dropped his first solo project, Not Alone, in July 2023.
The Mi Casa member wrote the song in 2019. At first, it wasn’t his intention to release it.
The music personality had worked as a manager at SoulCandi Studios. Mi Casa bagged the Group of the Year and Record of the Year at the 18th South African Music Awards.
Musical group Mi Casa has opened for well-known international acts. The founding band members include Joao da Fonseca, aka J’Something, Sipho Mphahlaza, aka Dr. Duda, and Moshe Kgasoane, aka Mo-T.
J’Something is the guitarist and lead singer for the group, Dr. Duda is the DJ and producer, and Mo-T is the trumpeter.
Business
Apart from his contributions to the music industry, J’Something has visible achievements as a chef. He runs a restaurant but closed his Pretoria-based restaurant in 2019.
The businessman is partnering with an apartment hotel network, BlackBrick, to launch a new spot – Artistry.
In 2017, the musician launched a book and opened a restaurant. He was also a judge on My Kitchen Rules SA. It was a busy year for him with a restaurant, book launch, and TV show.
Personal Life
J’Something and his wife Cordelia Godi welcomed their firstborn child. He mentioned fatherhood at the launch of his book. His mother, who he is close to, had a mild heart attack in 2017.
