Little Siberia is a film set in the small Finnish village of Hurmevaara, where a meteorite crashes to Earth, changing the lives of the people who live there. The story follows Joel, a pastor with a troubled past, and his wife, Krista. Their marriage is struggling because Joel believes he cannot have children due to an injury from his time as a peacekeeper in Afghanistan. This causes tension between them, as Krista deeply wants a family.
The meteorite becomes the center of attention in the village when people discover it could be worth one million euros. Locals, including a man named Jukkis, see it as a chance to get rich. Joel is given the responsibility of guarding the meteorite at the local museum, but soon, different people start plotting to steal it. Things take a shocking turn when Krista is kidnapped, forcing Joel into a dangerous mission to rescue her. The kidnapping involves multiple people, including Petar and Karoliina, who each have their own motives. As Joel fights to save his wife, he also faces betrayal and danger while trying to protect the meteorite.
The film explores themes of faith, miracles, and redemption. Joel struggles with his beliefs, wondering whether the meteorite is a sign from above or just a random event. He has deep conversations with other villagers, like Matias, about fate and the meaning of life. Other characters also deal with their own regrets, such as Tarvainen, a former rally driver haunted by the death of his co-pilot, Sulevi.
