Floyd Shivambu (born 1 January 1983) is a South African politician. He is a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Economic Freedom Fighters. He is the Deputy President and Chief Whip of the EFF.
Shivambu is a non-voting member of the Ad Hoc Committee to amend Section 25 of the Constitution since 21 August 2019. He is also a member of the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests (Committee) since 1 August 2019.

Floyd Shivambu was born on 1 January 1983 in the rural village of Mahonisi, Malamulele, Northern Transvaal (now Limpopo). He grew up in a family of seven children. His known brother is Brian Shivambu. His parents were informal traders, and their home had no electricity or running water.
Education
Shivambu matriculated at the Mphambo High School in Malamulele in 2001. He studied at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
He studied for a bachelor’s and honors in Political Studies and International Relations. He holds a master’s degree, with distinction, in political studies in 2014.
In February 2018, he announced that the Wits School of Governance accepted him to pursue a doctoral degree.
Career
As a third-year student at the university, he contested for the seat of the Student Representative Body and won. He joined the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL).
Floyd became a Member of Parliament for the EFF in 2014. From 2014 to 2018, he was a Member of the Pan-African Parliament.
Having begun service as spokesperson of the African National Congress Youth League in 2008, he left office in 2012. He was a Board Member of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme from 2008 to 2012.
From 2006 to 2007, he served as the Students Representative of the Joint Initiative for Priority Skills Acquisition. In 2004, he served as the Student Representative Council president at the University of Witwatersrand.
Shivambu became the Deputy President of the Economic Freedom Fighters in 2013. He is in charge of Policy, Research, and International Relations.
Floyd Shivambu is a co-founder of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). He is a co-editor of a book about Julius Malema, The Coming Revolution: Julius Malema and the Fight for Economic Freedom.
Shivambu is also a part of the Standing Committee on Finance in the National Assembly Committees. He is a Party Whip at National Assembly (Parliament).
The MP is a member of the Rules of the National Assembly (National Assembly Committees) and a full member of the National Assembly (Parliament) since 22 May 2019.
Personal Life
Floyd Shivambu married his wife, Siphesihle Pezi-Shivambu, in 2017. He has a child Katekani Shivambu.
Controversies
An ANC disciplinary hearing outset Shivambu from the seat as the ANC Youth League spokesman in 2011. He had sworn at a journalist.
The police arrested him for speeding on 17 August 2018. He was driving at 182 km/h in a 120 km/h zone and got released on bail. He was caught on camera attacking a journalist outside Parliament on March 2018.
