Finnish Government Master Scholarships

This post is also available in: Français

If you dream of doing your Master’s or PhD in Finland, but you lack the financial means, then get ready! In a few days, you will have two weeks flat (January 4-18) to apply for the Finnish Government Scholarships. The Finnish government scholarship program “Finland Scholarship” helps international students from outside the EU/EEA to support their university studies in Finland. The program ensures that they receive the greatest possible help to make the most of their studies, develop their abilities and establish successful professions after graduation.

Finland is a world leader in terms of education quality. Its higher education system offers more than 200 English-taught master’s programs at 13 universities and 22 universities of applied sciences (UAS). Finnish higher education institutions have more than 20,000 international students studying in several locations in Finland.

According to the Finnish Immigration Service, in 2022, a record number of international students have enrolled at higher education institutions in Finland this year. 7,060 applicants from outside the EU received residence permits in Finland from January to October 2022. This is mainly due to the entry into force of a new legislation in April. Moving to Finland is now easier for international students. Students from abroad may be granted a residence permit for the entire duration of their studies. Previously, students could only be granted a residence permit for a maximum of two years at a time. The new law also makes it easier to look for work after graduating.

Applications for the Finnish government Master scholarships are totally free, at all stages.
