Earl Life
Mroza was born in a small village in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. Her parents named her Nonhlanhla Rhodesia. She worked hard to beat get where she is today.
Education
Rhodesia started her early education at Dokodweni Primary School. Later, she enrolled at Amatikulu Secondary and finished at Vukile High School, Maphumulo.
After matric, she obtained a diploma in teaching from the College of Education of South Africa (CESA). Mroza holds a postgraduate diploma in project management from Regent Business School.
Her inspiration for further studies came after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in 2019.
Career
Mroza created a group – Dokodweni Coastal Development – to cut the level of crime and keep the youth off the streets. She has dreamed of being on the air as a radio personality.
The youth group played a notable role and made her actualize her dreams. Her work impressed the authorities in her area, and she got an invitation from Love Life Organization.
Love Life hired her as a Groundbreaker – Young Dynamic People to work with her peers. She started working with Love Life Tours, Radio Units/ Mobile Studios.
Through her work, she promoted positive messages in schools within the province.
Eventually, she garnered enough on-air experience and joined Icora FM in June 2000. She worked at the Community Radio Station at Eshowe as a host.
Mroza hosted the Drive Home Show from Monday to Friday (3 – 6 PM). She continued to exhibit other potential and became a Marketing Manager at Icora FM.
After years of experience as a radio personality, Mroza joined Ukhozi FM in August 2004.
Foundation
Buthelezi established her foundation, Thum’umlilo, in 2013. The vision of these organizations is to help young people. They provide the youth with skills development, bursaries, and career guidance.
The radio personality has had a passion for working with people for a long time. She has volunteered in many community organizations around her.
Personal Life
Nonhlanhla Buthelezi was in a polygamous relationship with the playwright Mbongeni Ngema. They got engaged in 2011, but Nonhlanhla, due to the chemistry they share people saw them as a married couple.
Buthelezi climbed to the summit of Kilimanjaro with Thuli Madonsela and Pearl Shongwe. She got a hero’s welcome from UkhoziFM listeners coming back.
The UkhoziFM presenter climbed Africa’s highest mountain to raise awareness about female menstrual hygiene and the importance of dignity packs.
