Early Life

Primo Baloyi was born Ofentse Baloyi on July 12, 1993, in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria. He did not have a close relationship with his father while growing up. 

His father, Lucas Radebe, was pursuing an international soccer career. His mother, Pulane Baloyi, appeared in court for child support of R10 000 a month. 

During his days as a teenager, he would see his father but built a stronger bond with his father in his twenties. The name Primo emerged during his time as a Krump dancer in high school in 2010. 

After trying out a football career and realizing he might be unable to match his father’s standard, he tried coaching. He started to coach a young squad of kids. He continued until he went into content creation with full force. 

Education

Baloyi studied economics at Monash University but dropped out. He then enrolled in strategic management at Varsity College but did not complete the course.

Later, he studied for a Diploma in brand marketing and communication at Vega School Johannesburg. He started taking up dancing and acting in high school to get recognized. 

Career

Primo is influential on TikTok. He is forging his way outside his father’s footsteps, and his video about a Kota went viral internationally.

Baloyi has created many characters that his followers have grown to love. He takes viral TikTok sounds and re-enacts them into funny and relatable videos.

Before content creation, he tried following the steps of his father. He tried soccer and began to train with PSL teams Mpumalanga Black Aces and Bid Wits.

In 2018, he stopped to play soccer and returned to school. For some months, he worked as a bookkeeper before the nationwide lockdown.

The lockdown period creates the opportunity and time to start making skits for YouTube.

Eventually, he tried TikTok after someone told him to. He then reached over 4 million a week on TikTok. He played a role on 1 Magic’s Lingashoni season 2.

The made a funny video about Uncle Vinny at the police station on April 26. It had over 18k likes and 218k views on Instagram. Most of his reels hit at least a hundred thousand views.
