Ronald Lamola (born 21 November 1983 in Transvaal) is a South African lawyer and politician.
He serves as the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services since 29 May 2019 and is a member of the political party African National Congress.
Ronald is a member of the National Assembly of South Africa and took on the position in May 2019. He is also a member of the African National Congress’s National Executive Committee.

Qualifications
In 1996, at the age of thirteen, Ronald joined the African National Congress Youth League. He matriculated in 2000 from Mchacka High School and enrolled at the University of Venda to study Law.
While in the University, Ronald served as the president of the Student Representative Council. He also served as the Chairperson of the South African Student Congress, Limpopo.
In 2006, Lamola achieved a practical legal training degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA). He holds a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Law from UNISA (2008).
He also holds a post-graduate certificate in banking law & the financial markets and an LLM in Corporate Law, University of Pretoria.
Lamola attended Wits Business Enterprise and holds a post-graduate certificate in telecommunications policy and regulation and management from the institution.
He also boasts of two (2) Masters’s Degrees from the University of Pretoria.
Wife
On March 8, 2013, Lamola married Bawinile “Winnie” Msiza. The couple held their wedding ceremony at the Cunning Moor in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.
Career
In 2006, Lamola began his career in Law at TMN Kgomo and Associates and became the manager of the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality in 2009.
Ronald also was the Director in the Office of the Mpumalanga MEC for Culture, Sports and Recreation for 2 years (2009-2011).
In 2011, he became the spokesperson for David Mabuza, the Mpumalanga Premier, and served for a short time.
He also served as the Deputy President of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL).
Before Julius Malema, Youth League President was expelled from the position, Roland served alongside him. His expulsion followed in 2012 after he brought the party into disrepute.
He is a critic of Jacob Juma, the former African National Congress President and in 2012, he made an open endorsement of Kgalema Motlanthe to succeed Zuma.
Lamola ran as a candidate for the National Assembly in the 2014 elections. He was not elected to the parliament following the African National Congress electoral performance.
In 2017, Lemola endorsed Cyril Ramaphosa, current president of South Africa, to be the African National Congress President.
Ronald was elected to the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress in December of the same year.
He was appointed to the ANC‘s National Working Committee in 2018, after the 2019 elections, Ronald became a Member of the National Assembly.
On May 29th, the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Lamola to serve as the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services.
