Sindy Mabe is a South African television presenter and entrepreneur. She is best known for anchoring the news program Morning Edition on e.tv in 2003.

In 2005, she started to host Weekend Live on the public television channel SABC2. She was a newsreader for SABC3’s News in 60 Seconds. Since March 2008, she co-anchors e.tv breakfast news and actuality show Sunrise.

Early Life

Sindy Mabe was born in 1972 or 1973 in KwaThema, a township southwest of Springs in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa. She is Tswana. 

Education

The television personality holds a National Diploma in Retail Business Management from Wits Technikon. She obtained a certificate in Public Relations at Damelin.

Mabe matriculated from Springs Convent. Other certificates in her possession include television and radio-related qualifications and labor and public relations certificates. She completed the Wits Business School Venture Certificate for women entrepreneurs. 

Career

Aside from television, she is a businessperson. She launched her cleaning service. She is passionate about creating jobs and experiencing growth in the business environment.

From 2003 to 2005, Mabe was an anchor on Morning Edition on e.tv. She left the channel with other employees due to heavy-handed management from Debora Patta, among other reasons.

Sindy joined the Weekend Live news program as a co-anchor alongside Sherwin Bryce-Pease on SABC2. Her debut episode was broadcast on Saturday, April 2, 2005.

In the SABC3 program, News in 60 Seconds, Mabe is the news reader. It airs on weeknights at 20h30.

On March 31, 2008, she began to co-anchor, alongside Graeme Richards, the new e.tv breakfast show Sunrise. The show replaced the Morning Edition. She left the breakfast show Sunrise in 2014.

Mabe owns a production company, Overjoy Productions, which does audio-visual productions. She works as the digital media officer for the National Empowerment Fund.

Sindy Mabe is the co-anchors of The South African Morning on eNCA, alongside Gareth Edwards, on Weekdays.

Personal Life

Sindy Mabe was married to a Xhosa man. She separated from her customary husband many years ago. The cultural differences strained their marital relationship. She has two children – a boy and a girl.

Their personalities clashed as they met different expectations in the relationship. Sindy had her first boyfriend, who was her cousin’s friend, at the age of 16.

Sindy does pole dancing as a sensual fitness routine at Steel Divas. She also enjoys reading and traveling. She is a devoted born-again Christian and a tithe-paying member of Grace Bible Church in Morningside.

Sindy Mabe bought her first car, Opel Kadett, a 1994 model, in 1997. She acquired it while working as an SAA air hostess. She later gave it to her parents.
