Zahara Husband – Bulelwa Mkutukana popularly known by her stage name Zahara was a talented singer-songwriter from South Africa. She signed a record deal with TS Records and released her debut album, Loliwe, in 2011, which became a huge success and went double platinum. Her second album, Phendula, was released in 2013 and produced three chart-topping singles – “Phendula”, “Impilo”, and “Stay”.
In 2015, Zahara released her third album, Country Girl, which was certified triple platinum. Later, she left TS Records and signed a new record deal with Warner Music. Her fourth album, Mgodi, released in 2017, was her best-selling album and was certified platinum. Zahara’s fifth album, Nqaba Yam, was released in 2021 and peaked at number 1 on iTunes.
Zahara has won numerous awards throughout her career, including 17 South African Music Awards, three Metro FM Awards, and one Nigeria Entertainment Award. In 2020, she was featured on the BBC’s 100 Women list. In 2021, Zahara appeared as a guest judge on the seventeenth season of Idols South Africa.
Currently, Zahara is in the headlines because, on 11 December 2023, she died at a hospital in Johannesburg. No official cause of death has been released yet. She was admitted to the hospital with liver complications.
Zahara Husband: Was Zahara Married?
Zahara’s personal life has been widely publicized, especially her romantic relationships. In 2017, she got engaged to Umhlobo Wenene FM radio presenter Amaza Ntshanga. She later got engaged to Ian Sibiya in 2019, but their relationship ended the same year. The couple celebrated their second anniversary before parting ways.
Recently, Zahara found love again and announced her engagement to Mpho Xaba in March. However, reports emerged suggesting that Zahara fell critically ill just days after her fiance paid lobola (bride price) for her.
